TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — While most 22-year-olds are scrolling through social media, Cale Stephenson is flipping pages, and he wants you to join him.

The Arizona native just opened Vintage Truth Books, a used bookstore tucked inside the vintage shop Cheap Thrillz near University and Mill in Tempe.

Stephenson has been buying books his whole life, running pop-up shops before landing a brick-and-mortar space. Now he’s on a mission to get Gen Z reconnecting with the classics.

“Things that are labeled classics, these works, have in them a perennial truth — things that are true forever and always,” Stephenson said. “Not just Gen Z, my generation, but all of us are seeking out truth.”

The shop is stocked with all used books, with a heavy focus on the classics, but also carries non-fiction and older titles for the curious mind.

Stephenson believes his generation is hungry for something timeless in a world of endless content.

“That thing I love the most about what I’m doing is preserving these ancient truths and beautiful things you physically get to touch, hold and smell,” he said. “I think people that come into the store feel that way too.”

Vintage Truth Books is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays near University and Mill in Tempe.
