PHOENIX—Carefully noting several mistakes he’d made while typing up what would ultimately be the worst mistake of his life, local man Carson Myers spent several minutes Tuesday double-checking the career-ending Facebook comment he was about to post for spelling. “Let’s see, is it ‘they’re’ or ‘their’? Phew, that would have been embarrassing,” said Myers, who obsessively tinkered with a few select words of the lengthy post that, for reasons unrelated to his editing, would soon go viral, end his career, and ultimately cause his family and friends to cut off contact with him forever. “Oh wow. I’m glad I put this into a spellchecker. I thought ‘mongrel’ was spelled with an ‘a.’ Plus, I totally forgot to tag ICE. If anyone would have seen the original, I would have been absolutely humiliated.” At press time, sources reported that Myers was hard at work correcting the thousands of people who had posted his home address online and had mistakenly spelled his name ‘Meyers’ instead of ‘Myers.’
