Fans Turn On Taylor Swift After Learning What She Reportedly Did With Her Elaborate Wedding Decor

Taylor Swift’s July 3 wedding to Travis Kelce at Madison Square Garden was hailed as America’s royal wedding, with estimates placing its cost at $30 million.

The multipurpose indoor arena in New York City was reportedly transformed into a whimsical woodland wonderland, bringing the bride’s elaborate vision to life.

However, a recent account claims that the lavish setup was dismantled and transported to an undisclosed location before being destroyed just hours after the last guests had departed.

The alleged move was intended to prevent fans from getting their hands on the decorations and selling them online.

The claim has since sparked fierce backlash against Swift, with one X user criticizing her, writing, “What a climate te**orist.”

A Tuesday, October 27, report by the Daily Mail stated that Swift and Kelce’s wedding featured custom Colosseum-like walls, artificial trees, fabrics printed with forest imagery, a 35-foot-tall greenhouse structure, a peach-colored tent for games, and more.

Rock Lititz, a campus in Lititz, Pennsylvania, featuring rehearsal studios where artists often prepare their tour productions, was reportedly among the locations where the elaborate installation was constructed ahead of the big day.

The structures were subsequently transported to New York City in 11 semi-trucks, which a source cited by the publication described as “pretty crazy.”

The same insider also revealed that Swift’s team had ordered the decorations to be incinerated.

“They didn’t want people to steal it and then auction it or sell it, so they just burned it all,” they said.

The concerns about potential resales and auctions were not entirely unfounded, given that fans were seen collecting used bottle caps and other discarded items from the Madison Square Garden premises back in July.

Despite these concerns, the source described the decision to burn the multimillion-dollar installations as “wild.”

The insider also clarified that Swift herself had not directly issued the instruction.

However, the detail didn’t stop commenters from accusing the pop superstar of contributing to the environmental crisis.

“She loves polluting the earth & ripping her dumb fans off, you gotta have a negative IQ to still support her,” one critic wrote.

“There is something wrong with this woman and her cult is even worse,” added another.

“I’m a fan, but this is insane,” echoed a third.

Several others pointed out that this was not the first time Swift had faced criticism over her alleged contribution to pollution.

“As if the jet emissions weren’t enough,” one user wrote, referencing her ownership of a Dassault Falcon 7X long-range trijet.

“Carbon footprint the size of the sun,” another remarked.

Swift generated 138 tons of CO₂ emissions in just three months in 2024, according to Newsweek.

In 2022, a study by UK marketing agency Yard ranked her as the celebrity with the largest carbon footprint.

Leah Thomas, author of The Intersectional Environmentalist, who studies the relationship between environmentalism and privilege, addressed the figures in an interview with BBC Travel.

“Swift’s carbon emissions are extreme and are polluting the atmosphere,” she said, adding, “Carbon emissions are one of the leading causes of the climate crisis and carbon in the atmosphere warms the planet, which contributes to extreme weather events.”

Swift’s publicist, however, told BBC News that the singer uses carbon offsets to counterbalance emissions from her private jet travel.

Carbon offsets are credits purchased by individuals or companies to neutralize the greenhouse gases they release.

The money typically supports projects such as tree planting, which helps absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, or methane capture initiatives that prevent the gas from contributing to global warming.

In Swift’s case, her publicist told the Associated Press that she had purchased twice the amount of carbon offsets needed to cover her travel for the Eras Tour before it began in March 2023.

These credits may also have helped compensate for additional flights she took to attend Kelce’s NFL games.

Some fans defended Swift, arguing that custom wedding decorations often end up in the trash anyway

While critics suggested that Swift could have sold the elaborate installations to warehouses for reuse, fans argued that custom-made decorations are rarely suitable for other events.

“It’s difficult to find another couple who would need the T&T insignia,” one user said.

“Even if people wanted to buy it, they won’t have the required budget,” another added.

Meanwhile, several questioned the credibility of the Daily Mail report altogether.

“Is the source the voice in your head?” one commenter asked.

“How does Taylor bring out the schizophrenia in these people?” another questioned.
