WINSLOW, AZ (AZFamily) — A newborn baby reported abducted from the West Valley was found safe in northern Arizona Friday.

The Navajo County Sheriff’s Office received an Alert to Locate (ATL) for the 11-day-old infant, who was reported abducted from the city of Surprise.

Deputies say they quickly tracked the suspect vehicle to the Winslow area, where they found the newborn unharmed.

As a precaution, the infant was transported to a nearby medical facility and is awaiting reunification with his mother.

It remains unclear who took the baby or whether the suspect will face charges.

“We appreciate the assistance of Arizona DPS and are grateful this incident had a safe outcome,” the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office said in a written statement.
