PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A woman is fighting for her life after a hit-and-run in west Phoenix early Sunday morning.

Around 2 a.m., first responders were called to the area of Camelback Road and 43rd Avenue on a report of a woman who had been hit by an unknown vehicle.

Firefighter-paramedics arrived and took the woman to the hospital in critical condition, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Officers did not find the vehicle, but believe it was an SUV.

The roadway was closed for multiple hours as police investigated, but has since reopened.
