Hollywood’s beauty detectives have a new case on their hands: Jennifer Lawrence.
The 36-year-old actress candidly spoke about her appearance this week, confirming that she underwent plastic surgery and plans to get a facelift.
Following her claims, a plastic surgeon broke down cup sizes and explained why the results may be subtler than people expect.
Jennifer Lawrence faced immense backlash after confirming she underwent breast augmentation

Jennifer Lawrence confirmed she had undergone breast augmentation in an October 27 interview with The Cut. The actress also revealed that a facelift is next on her wish list.
“I want to be a sexy mom,” the actress said during the interview. “At drop-off, I want to look like a woman who has her sh*t together even when I’ve just woken up and don’t have my sh*t together.”
Fans were upset over her interview pictures, saying, “She destroyed her entire look.”
“She underwent plastic surgery to remove all her most distinctive features,” another commented on her photo. “I wish women would stop doing this to themselves.”

Speaking to Bored Panda, plastic surgeon Omar Tillo of CREO Clinic explained that breast surgery does not necessarily mean opting for a noticeably larger bust.
“Looking at Jennifer Lawrence, there’s no obvious, dramatic change in her figure, which goes against what a lot of people picture when they hear the words ‘b**b job,’” he noted.
“People tend to associate breast surgery with going up several cup sizes, but that’s not what every woman wants.”

According to Tillo, some patients are happy with their breast size but want to restore fullness or improve their shape, particularly after pregnancy.
“There’s a big difference between wanting larger breasts and wanting your breasts to look the way they used to. And you don’t necessarily need implants to achieve the latter,” he explained.
The surgeon stressed that it is impossible to establish exactly what procedure Lawrence underwent based on photographs alone.
The expert said a breast lift, implants, or a combination of both could help restore post-pregnancy breast shape

“She could have had implants, a breast lift or a combination of the two,” he clarified.
“If she did have implants, something in the region of 200–300cc could give a relatively subtle increase in volume, depending on her natural breast tissue and proportions. But I wouldn’t claim to know her implant size, or even whether she has implants, from photographs,” he said.
The surgeon pointed out that a breast lift was another possibility she underwent.

The procedure “doesn’t involve adding volume, but by removing excess skin and repositioning the breast tissue, you can make the breasts look firmer and fuller, particularly if they’ve changed after pregnancy,” he explained.
“People are often surprised by how much difference a lift alone can make. You can change the shape of the breasts quite significantly without actually making them any bigger.”
Lawrence spoke about how “nothing bounced back” after her second child’s birth

Women who undergo pregnancy and postpartum experience numerous changes in their bodies. And for some women, going back to their pre-pregnancy shape can be very important but also challenging.
Lawrence told The New Yorker in 2025 that she wanted to get a breast augmentation after giving birth to her second child, who is currently 19 months old. She and her husband Cooke Maroney, an art gallery director, welcomed their first child, Cy, in 2022.

While speaking to the outlet, Lawrence said “everything bounced back, pretty much,” after her first childbirth, but with the second pregnancy, “nothing bounced back.”
Tillo explained that getting back to the pre-pregnancy shape involves several factors. The right approach depends on a woman’s body, existing breast tissue, and what she actually wants to change.
“People assume that if you want a subtle result, you just choose smaller implants. I wish it were that simple,” the plastic surgeon explained.
The right breast procedure depends on more than implant size, the surgeon said

Doctors have to consider a woman’s frame and other specific concerns rather than focusing solely on cup size.
“Someone might come in asking for a particular cup size, but cup sizes aren’t especially useful when you’re planning surgery. A C cup on one woman can look completely different on another,” he continued.
“Sometimes implants are exactly what someone needs. Other times, adding volume would just make the breasts heavier without fixing the issue they came in for,” Tillo said.

“I’ve had patients come in convinced they need implants when, after talking through what they want to change, a breast lift turns out to be the more suitable option.”
Following pictures published by The Cut, Lawrence’s facial appearance also sparked widespread speculation about undergoing cosmetic procedures.
She admitted in a September 2026 Vogue interview that she got “baby Botox,” the industry term for small doses of Botox.

The Hunger Games star has even considered buccal fat removal to reduce the appearance of her “massive cheeks” and highlight her jawline.
But “I can’t because everybody would know,” she added.
With a hint of dismay, the actress said she couldn’t get “very much done” to her face because she needed “movement” to act.
Another plastic surgeon speculated that changes related to Lawrence’s facial appearance

Dr. Melinda Lacerna Kimbrell analyzed pictures of the Oscar winner and said, “The most obvious procedural changes appear to be around her eyes.”
“There is substantially more upper-lid visibility, less hooding and elevation of the outer brow,” the double board-certified plastic surgeon and owner of LA Plastic Surgery told the Daily Mail.
“That pattern strongly suggests an upper blepharoplasty, possibly combined with a brow lift and a lateral eye lift,” said the expert, who has performed over 1,000 facelifts.

The surgeon also found Lawrence’s midface looking higher and mentioned the possibility of selective fat grafting around the lower eyelid and upper cheek.
However, she noted that the area beneath the actress’s cheekbones appeared markedly hollow.
Kimbrell also questioned whether significant weight loss could have contributed to Lawrence’s altered appearance, describing her lower cheeks as appearing “almost sucked in, creating a much narrower and more angular face.”
“Is it me or are all these stars morphing into the same person?” one commented online
